My son's news to me and his dad....

Talking about surprises! My son threw me and his dad for a loop this time!
There's this girl he's been dating since being stationed in Parris Island, SC....he's in the marines for 2 years now....they've only been engaged since this past August! Now, after I move to California....2211 miles and over $4000 later....he tells me a couple weeks ago he's getting married on October 20th. He tells me this after I've only been here for 10 days, and I'm as broke as it gets after the move! And starting a new job that makes it too soon to even think about getting time off, that is if I could afford to fly in for it!! I'm really depressed and sad about not getting to be there for his wedding! He's my only child!! He only told his dad last night!! My son had only been off the phone with him now for about 40 seconds when his dad calls me saying, "So, our son is getting married, huh?" He must have speed-dialed my number, lol!! I could hear the surprise, and shock too maybe, in his voice....I know just how he feels, I was shocked also!

I mean, I knew it was getting serious, and I knew about the engagement before my move, but I had no idea a wedding would come about this soon!! I thought he would wait till he got transferred out here before he did that, so me and his dad could attend, but Nooooo! I guess he's in lust, as well as bitten by the love bug! LOL! But he assures me they will have another ceremony after he gets transferred out here, so we can attend. And he assures me he will send lots of pictures.....he'd better! I'm still very disappointed I can't be there, and so is his dad! We will probably never forget how we got left out like this! ~frowns, and looking down at floor~
